How to get to Whispering Pines
Whispering Pines is located just north of Kernville on the banks of the Wild and Scenic Kern River. The Kern Valley’s most easily accessible via Highway 178 from either the west or east.
Guide MapTravelers arriving from the west can take Interstate 5 to Highway 99 into Bakersfield, where they will link up with Highway 178 and head east toward the scenic Kern River Canyon, it’s wild flowers and flowing lower river. Upon reaching the Valley, take Highway 155 north through Wofford Heights and on to Kernville while admiring the beautiful northern shore lake views.
Those choosing to arrive from the south can use Highway 14 through Palmdale and continue north through Mojave, linking up with Highway 178 before the town of Inyokern. An alternate route is Highway 395, which intersects with 14 after passing through Inyokern. At the junction of 178 off 14 travel west over Walker Pass and into the Kern Valley. Turn north on Sierra Way skirting the eastern shore of Isabella Lake and on pass the Kernville Airport as you approach Kernville.
